Foliage

No doubt about it, once the foliage starts hitting the South of Maine, you know that the North is right at about peak! Head North on Rte 27, through Farmington and then past Kingfield, you'll begin to see the colors change, as early as the 2nd week in September. Keep heading North, into past Sugarloaf, into Wyman and then Stratton & Eustis. You can hang a left on Rte 16 and head into Rangeley and towards Saddleback, or you can continue onto 27, by Flagstaff lake, Chain of Ponds and then eventually the Canadian Border (37 miles past Sugarloaf). Rte 27 is our Scenic Byway, so make sure you stop at one of the several area rest stops on the way headed up towards Sugarloaf (and beyond).
